Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation Review & Demo

Urban Decay recently released a foundation called NAKED Skin and I wanted to give it a try.

My biggest concerns with any foundation is that it must cover my acne scars, and so far it takes 2 pumps of the NAKED Skin foundation to do so. Overall it is a nice foundation, but color variations need more work.

Here are some Pros:

  • Light weight
  • Good coverage
  • Oil Free
  • Easy Application
Here are some Cons:
  • Matching issues. There needs to be more color options for people of color
  • Breaks down past the 5-6hr mark (on me)
  • Must be "warmed up" with a colored setting powder as it appears ghostly without it.
  • Fails to look like "skin." You will look like you are wearing makeup
Here is the video demo:

Have you tried this foundation?

Jewelry haul ft. Disney Couture, Ideeli & more

I wanted to share my recent jewelry haul with you.
I shopped at Ideeli.com and Hautelook.com for all these pieces.

I love this bracelet from Ideeli! It fits really snug so Disney Couture did a good job with the fit even though I think it's a bit tight.

I got these earrings from Hautelook and they are by Amrita Singh. I love the rhinestones and the blue stone accents. Surprisingly they are really light and don't weight my ears down.

This last pair of earrings stole my heart! I bought them from Ideeli and they are from the Disney Couture line. They are the perfect way to say you are a disney fan in a grown up way.

Which are your faves?

My first pick this month was the Phyllis flat.

I figured the pattern was perfect for fall.
I also am in love with flowers so I fell in love with the print at the bottom.

My second choice was the Patavia heel.

The metal plated straps drew my attention to the futuristic look of this shoe.
I also love that it's not a sky high heel either.

Urban Decay Vice Palette for Fall 2012

I'm SO EXCITED (can you tell? lol) Urban Decay will be releasing a super new eyeshadow palette for Holiday 2012 called The Vice Palette. It is described as:
an insanely gorgeous new palette that’s ALL about eyeshadow. All twenty new shades (yes, twenty!) were created exclusively for the palette—you’ve never seen these colors before because they are BRAND-freaking new...and you can’t find them anywhere else. With a range of mattes, shimmers, satins, neutrals and brights, there’s something for everyone.
The palette comes housed in a sleek purple soft-touch case topped with a sparkling jeweled UD icon, just as the Urban Decay 15th Anniversary palette was.

The sophisticated case boasts a large mirror and a double-ended Good Karma Shadow and Crease Brush which is very generous of Urban Decay.

Every eyeshadow contains Urban Decay’s brand new Pigment Infusion System , the proprietary blend of ingredients that gives every shade its velvety texture, rich color, serious staying power, and blendability.

The Vice Eyeshadow palette includes (along with a double-ended shadow and Crease Brush) the following colors:

  • Desperation – taupe brown w/satin finish
  • Muse – deep sepia brown w/multidimensional sparkle finish
  • Jagged – metallic black gold w/shimmer finish
  • Blitz – metallic yellow gold w/shimmer finish
  • Penny Lane – metallic peachy bronze pearl w/ golden shimmer finish
  • Junkie – dark green/blue pearl w/ golden shimmer
  • Chaos – bright blue matte
  • Occupy – metallic steel grey w/multidimensional sparkle and shimmer finish
  • Unhinged – metallic electric turquoise w/ shimmer finish
  • Black Market – jet black satin
  • Provocateur – light metallic mauve w/ multidimensional sparkle and shimmer finish
  • Rapture – dark greyish purple w/ multidimensional shimmer finish
  • Vice – deep eggplant purple w/shimmer finish
  • Noise – electric punch pink w/gold sparkle and shimmer finish
  • Armor – metallic dove grey w/silver micro-glitter shimmer finish
  • Nevermind – metallic cork w/shimmer finish
  • Echo Beach – pale wheat w/shimmer finish
  • Anonymous – opaque almond w/matte finish
  • Free Bird – pink champagne w/silver micro- sparkle shimmer finish
  • Laced – opaque pinky taupe w/matte finish

I am excited to try Chaos and Vice. The Vice Palette will retail for $59 and will be available (September 27th) from Sephora, ULTA and select Macy’s stores. Or, online at Sephora.com, ulta.com, macys.com, beauty.com and urbandecay.com (mid-September)

BUT... if you’re in the NYC area, they are having a one-day pre-sale at Sephora 5 Times Square between 3pm-9pm today, Friday September 14, 2012 and get your hands on it before everyone else!

What are your first thoughts on this Urban Decay Vice Palette?

What's in My Makeup Bag

My makeup bag is very interesting lol. I have alot of those sample size items that I snag from Sephora, but I also like to purchase items that I feel are small enough for travel, but effective enough to get the job done.

My First U-Part Wig

So I decided to put my little skills to the test and made my first U-Part wig. I used hair from Wagmanhair.com to create this wig. I have had this hair for 3 years and it was also my first ever raw hair purchase.

OOTD: Hail storm fabulous

So we had a really big hail storm today and funny thing was I was totally color co-ordinated with the storm. The sky was a dark gray and the leopard print on my shirt reminded me of the actual hail that fell from the sky.
Felt pretty cool to hold it in my hands...it burned a little though.

Natural Hair Moisture Mixture

My hair craves moisture & besides using water, I use a few oils as well. I'm very lazy at times and I was fed up with using one at a time or one oil on this day and another next week. So, I decided to make a Shea butter mixture with a number of my favorite oils. See how you can make one yourself in the video below.

Products used:
Coconut Oil
Jamaican Black Castor oil
Raw Shea butter

Unexpected Jewelry storage ideas

So my mom bought me a beautiful Jewelry box for Christmas last year, but I have so many accessories that it was shaping up to be a bit too small to fit everything. So I decided to go on the hunt for some more unconventional ways to store my jewelry.

So, for my bangles and bracelets, I was lucky enough to find a store that was closing down and were selling their displays. This was for key chains and I decided to get it to use for my bangles and bracelets.

I have lots of statement rings that cant fit in a regular jewelry box. So I went to Walmart and found a thread holder that came with a nice cover. This is perfect because I can even stack the rings if I wanted. Plus the case is clear so I can also display my rings as well.

What are some of your storage ideas for your jewelry?
